A new era

Well, my friends, we have done it.  We are done with Torrey, and many of us are done with Biola.  Megan and Sarah still have summer trips to go on, but our sessions together are no more.  It is a bittersweet time.

And so we journey on, wherever the Lord takes us.  We have many decisions to make.  We are responsible adults with the power to go a thousand different exciting directions.  Between us we will cover many different paths.

We take from our time together deep friendships and deep thoughts.  We take the memory of hundreds of books, hundreds of late nights, and hundreds of fun adventures.  We take skill with words, ability to ask hard questions, and insight into the deeper meanings of books, movies, conversations, and life itself.  We take the knowledge that all of us are looking out for each other.

As we go forth, we must not lose everything that we have gained.  We must continue to think and to love and to work for God's kingdom.  This blog is just another tool to help us.  If it proves not to return on its investment, we can abandon it; but I would like to see it take off.  Here let us talk about the directions we have pursued so that we can celebrate each other's accomplishments and give each other help and advice when necessary.  Let us talk about books we have read and share ideas about what other members of the group should read so that we can help each other in the pursuit of knowledge.  Let us share things that have amused us and overjoyed us.  Let us continue in some small way to do life together.

This is only one tool, a tool for things we don't mind making public.  For personal things we all still have each other's e-mail addresses and phone numbers, and I for one plan on making use of them.  We also have each other's addresses, and most of us have cars - we can visit each other at times, and I hope we will.

May God guide our paths and our speech and use us each for His glory.  May He go with us as we journey on our separate ways.  Someday we will all eat together at the great feast in Aslan's country.
